Big welcome to Francesco Geronazzo who joins joins us for the next Here + Now residency August to October 2024. Very exciting, to say the least!
Italian born and Margaret River-based, Francesco is an internationally renowned artist who is always seeking new knowledge and pushing boundaries with his artistic practice. He was introduced to the art of printmaking at high school and has been passionate about the possibilities in his chosen medium ever since. Francesco is no stranger to the north midlands community, having previously facilitated a series of highly popular printmaking workshops with us, in partnership with DADAA.
During his upcoming residency, Francesco will use the medium of printmaking and mark-making techniques on paper and fabric, to explore the 'marks we make' and our connection with the local environment and native flora.
Community workshops will be held in numerous locations including Carnamah, Moora, Mingenew, Mullewa, and Perenjori, and Francesco's captivating artworks in will be shared through several exhibitions in the region. You can also catch up with Francesco at his studio space at The Exchange in Carnamah and share some creative time there.

TIme + Place i Exhibition
In late 2022 and throughout 2023 the North Midlands community joined six visiting artists to explore what it means to be in this time and this place. As a result, a series of striking co-created works have been brought to life with the community and artists Gabby Butler, Stuart McMillan, Martine Perret, Helen Ansell, Martien van Zuilen, and Geraldine Box.

Opening times: Tuesday - Thursday 10am-2pm, Friday 10am-12pm, to 3rd September. If you would like to see the exhibition outside of these hours, during weekdays, please see the Mingenew CRC or Post Office staff next door.

Act Belong Commit "Mark Making" by Ron Bradfield Jnr
We invite you to check out an exhibition of community canvases facilitated by Ron Bradfield Jnr and attendees at local events in Carnamah, Mingenew, Morawa, and Mullewa.

Opening TImes: 10am to 2pm Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays until the end of August The gallery and the exhibition are free to visit.
SAVE THE DATE! The Act Belong Commit Unity Arts Festival will take place Friday 11th to Tuesday 15 of October with, live music, free arts and craft workshops, films, exhibitions, multicultural food plus a long table lunch. Activities will be held in and around Carnamah. Keep your eyes out for details.

Seven wonderful creatives, some of whom we've met before, will be joining us throughout the year to explore Here+Now, our theme for 2024. We look forward to inviting you to creative workshops, exhibitions, events, and other activities. Here's a sneak peek of who will be coming our way...
February and March, weaver Glenda Blyth Basketcase Lady. April and May, felt artist Martien van Zuilen. June, artist jeweller Sultana Shamshi. August to early October, printmaker Francesco Geronazzo. September to November, maker and textile artist Deidre Robb and, October to November, writer and author Sarah-Jayne Eeles.
February, series of creative workshops in schools with a sample of the National Gallery of Australia's collection. June, special vocal workshops and performances with West Australian Opera and our first 'Wonder' Youth Arts Day. October, we are a regional creative hub for the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial putting on Unity, a five-day arts festival. Our partnership with DADAA continues with workshops happening throughout the year.
Running alongside the above, we are happy to be working with schools from across the North Midlands, Moora and Mullewa delivering the SEW-Arts program designed by the Telethon Kids Institute; and we are looking forward to working with Gardiner Street Arts Collective in Moora and the CRC in Mullewa.
Meanwhile, the Ebb+Flow exhibition of works created in and reflecting the community's voice in the North Midlands will continue its tour across the state - visiting Northcliffe, Kalamunda, Waroona, Northampton, Margaret River, Denmark, and more.

REgional Arts WA Network
North Midlands Project is the Mid West Hub !
Looking to change the way the regional arts sector talk to each other, Regional Arts WA has partnered with strategically aligned local organisations to grow a Network of Hubs across the state.
The Hubs themselves engage and respond directly to their local communities by providing on-ground support for their needs. Their role is to increase local decision making, strengthening relationships with local governments and stakeholders, whilst seeking development opportunities for artists and arts workers within their communities.
By having Hubs then connect back to a state-wide Regional Arts Network, assists in building a sustainable and thriving ecosystem of connected creative regional communities who work together in collaboration.
The network is a Regional Arts WA initiative, proudly supported by Minderoo Foundation and The Ian Potter Foundation, with funding from the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund.
